HOMERUS PROJECT
"Self-governing sailing for the blind"

This project was conceived by Alessandro Gaoso and launched in November 1995. Its objective is to teach blinds to sail autonomously. Blind athletes have immediately accepted it with enormous enthusiasm and now, in several occasions, they demonstrate their capabilities At the begining of 2004, the number of blind athletes who are able to sail by themselves is 164. The Homerus Association offers sailing courses on continuous, regular basis. Courses on offer are: initialisation, match-race and instrumental navigation.
