CONSIDERATONS
The total cost for six years is actually € 1,530 per person. (€ 255 a year for six years)
To educate the 15 blind presently attending St. Lucy’s School, we therefore need a total amount of € 22,950 (€ 255 x 6 x 15 = 22,950 in six years).
Once the blind who received help begin to work, they agree to pay St. Lucy’s School the amount of ten euros per year (€ 10), which means that the contribution of 25 working blind can only cover the education expenses of one new blind student.
During their entire working life, estimated in 35 years, every blind pays the school € 350, whereas his education cost € 1,530.
What can we do about it?
We can simply do what every father would do for his child! A real father!
The father who believes his children will contribute for a better future world.
The one who gives their children a proper education and then says: Go!
This father won’t lose his children but will help and encourage them to become real Men.
The group that will carry out the job, in cooperation with the Rotary Clubs, is made up by Homerus blind. They will be the ones who will write, speak, phone, travel, deal with people, and reach agreements to solve the problems.
We as Rotarians simply indicate them the way and offer suggestions, (at times we might even deal in secret), but we see that ever action remains alive, direct, honest and continuous in time.
Mrs. Nucci Tela Ferida and the Rotary Club Thika, in Kenya, will follow the students and see that all is proceeding regularly and in line with our purpose.
Cordially,
Alessandro Gaoso
